The Spin

A sophisticated, female-led gothic romance that elevates the vampire genre with themes of love, revenge, and choosing a different future.

The Tea

Insiders suggest Jiang’s dual role as star and producer signals a power move, potentially overshadowing director Catinella in the creative hierarchy.

The Receipts

Filming has already started. Jiang’s previous film 'City of Masks' premieres in London on Oct. 29, 2026. Cast includes 'Game of Thrones' vet Richard Brake.

The Last Byte

Jiang isn't just acting; she's orchestrating her own gothic empire. Watch out, Hollywood.

The vampire genre is getting a modern, female-led overhaul, and Amanda Jiang is at the center of the bloodbath. Variety reports that Jiang will star in "Dracula: The Crimson Code," a contemporary reimagining set in London and the English countryside. But don’t mistake this for a standard creature feature; Jiang plays Countess Isolde Dragomir, a centuries-old aristocrat whose glamorous soirées hide a deadly feud between vampire bloodlines.

The film, which has already begun filming, marks a significant pivot for Jiang, who is stepping out of the shadows of her indie work and into a high-profile franchise role. The cast is stacked with genre veterans who know how to handle a little supernatural drama. Joey Phillips, known for his role in "Outlander," and Richard Brake, a fixture in "Game of Thrones," "The Mandalorian," and "Kingsman: The Secret Service," are leading the ensemble.

Shayne Ward, recognizable from "The Good Ship Murder" and "Coronation Street," also joins the fray. Directed by Andrea M. Catinella and written by Enrico Tessarin, the project promises a blend of gothic atmosphere and modern thriller pacing.

The plot centers on Isolde’s quest for revenge against the man who murdered her great love, only to be disrupted by Theo Mercer, the reincarnation of that lost lover. It’s a classic trope, but with a twist: Theo is his own man, forcing Isolde to confront whether she can let go of the past. What’s truly interesting, however, is the production dynamics.

Jiang isn’t just the lead actress; she is also a producer for the film, alongside Tessarin, Catinella, and Carla Fuschillo for Starmist Films. This dual role gives Jiang significant creative control, a move that suggests she is building a brand rather than just taking a job. In a statement, Jiang emphasized her love for "gothic atmosphere" and the "theatricality" of the world, noting that the film explores "mystery, danger and desire." She described Isolde as "powerful, dangerous and deeply vulnerable," framing the narrative as a story about "love, revenge and the possibility of choosing a different future." The timing of this announcement is also noteworthy.

Jiang’s production company, Starmist Films, is currently basking in the glow of their first feature, "City of Masks," which is set to have its world premiere in London on October 29, 2026. With "The Crimson Code" already in production, Jiang is clearly capitalizing on her momentum. Is this a calculated career strategy to establish herself as a gothic icon, or is there genuine artistic passion driving the bus?

Either way, the combination of a female-led vampire narrative, a cast of genre staples, and Jiang’s producer credit makes this one to watch. The old Dracula myths are being rewritten, and Jiang holds the pen.
